Advantage Federer

What a brilliant final at Wimbledon yesterday, after last years spectaular between Federer and Nadal which I have to say was the greatest tennis match I have ever seen. I didn’t think it was possible to produce as much as excitement again, but it did, and in bucketloads, though last years tennis was technically superior yesterday’s was just as riveting, blink and you missed something spectacular. Federer is now recognised as the greatest Tennis player who ever lived and rightly so, 15 grand slam titles, and I don’t think on yesterdays evidence that he is finished yet. And what a thoroughly nice guy to, his post match interview was full of compliments for his opponent, and plaudits for previous champs, even to the extent he thanked Sampras for taking time to fly over and watch the final. I think a few pounds on overseas sports personality of the year could be a decent bet this year.

  1. I can't believe some people were writing Federer off after he lost at the Australian Open earlier in the year. Since then he has one the French Open and now Wimbledon and it would be great to see him win the U.S open in two months time. However, I have a sneaky feeling for Andy Murray to win at the U.S Open. Despite all the hysteria around Murray at Wimbledon he has always stated that the U.S open is his favourite Grand Slam to play in and he did reach the final last year. I think with the home crowd pressure off him and providing he avoids Federer until the final he will have a great chance of going one better this year. Back to Federer though, would be great to see him next year win all 4 Slams in one year as that is the one thing that has eluded him so far in his career.
