Pope Sex Abuse Scandal Deepens

Durdensview commented on this story over 2 weeks ago http://durdensview.blogspot.com/2010/03/pope-benedict-xvi.html, now the mainstream press are picking up on it.

This from today’s times newspaper. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article7075237.ece

I reiterate my call for the Pope to stand down.

Nuclear Free World

Cue fanfare of trumpets for yet another “arms reduction treaty” between the US and Russia, it looks and sounds pretty impressive but when you get down to the detail both sides will still have around 1500 nuclear missiles each.

Obama and Medvedev are fooling no-one this is just cosmetic, nothing of substance is happening.

Clowns like these two have been signing "nuclear arms reduction treaties" for the last 30 years and yet both still "upgrade" their arsenals and both still possess enough weapons to reduce the earth to a smouldering cinder many times over.

The signing is due to take place in Prague within the next four weeks, The choice of Prague is symbolic as it was the venue for Mr Obama’s speech last year in which he outlined his ambition for “a world without nuclear weapons”.

At this rate of reduction we should be Nuclear free in about a hundred and twenty years, way to go Obama.

Pete Docherty Druggie

Serial Junkie Pete Docherty has been arrested on suspicion of supplying the drugs that killed 27 year old heiress Robin Whitehead, Docherty attended the police station by APPOINTMENT, why on earth did the police make an appointment for him why wasn’t he arrested at a time of the police’s choosing like all other dealers are.

I really am sick of the preferential treatment celebrity’s get, if you can in fact call Docherty a celebrity in the truest sense, this loser is not famous for his talent but for being the Junkie ex boyfriend of Kate Moss, that and numerous arrests for use and possession of heroin.

In each of his arrests amazingly he always get bail and another chance, in the past he has served jail time, and pleaded guilty many times to possession of crack cocaine heroin, and ketamine,  (the horse tranquilizer) he has also by his own admission worked as a rent boy, this included him robbing his clients as well.

This self destructive behaviour is typical of a addict and I couldn’t care less about Docherty but now his actions have taken the life of a 27 year old girl, it doesn’t matter to me that the girl used drugs anyway, if Docherty hadn’t have supplied her with drugs that day she may well be alive today.

So its time to stop pussyfooting around with this waste of space and hammer him with the full force of the law, murder wont stick but manslaughter might, lets lock him up and throw away the key.

Fulham FC

What a fantastic result last night for Fulham beating Juventus 4-1, I wouldn’t normally take much interest in this mickey mouse competition, but I am hugely impressed with that score line, though they are not the up to the standard of years gone by Juventus team’s this was still Juventus, so for them to be humbled  at unfashionable Craven Cottage like that earns my respect.

I must admit to being in the “anyone but Liverpool camp” because of that loser Benitez, but now I am firmly in the Fulham camp for the duration of this competition.

Roy Hodgson has done a fantastic job with that squad, and I would admire them further but for their unfortunate nickname “The Cottagers” sadly that brings disturbing images to the mind.

Iran Arms Taleban

The Iranian Government has been accused by Afghan and Western officials of delivering tonnes of weaponry to the Taleban, including plastic explosives, mortars, grenades and technical manuals.

Weapons and documents shown to Channel 4 News indicate that more than ten tonnes of weapons have been intercepted at Iran’s desert border with Afghanistan in the past year, with a tonne and a half recovered in the past week.

HOW is this a surprise to anyone, that it only now makes the news, the mind boggles.

Miaow Miaow ban?

The Government’s official drug advisers will recommend later this month that the “legal high” mephedrone should be banned because of the potential serious risks to public health.

Typical knee jerk reaction from the Government, do they really believe making it illegal will stop people using it?.

Lets look at the evidence, Cocaine Heroin Crack Cannabis etc etc all illegal, yet freely available and more popular than ever, so banning this “drug” which is in fact a plant food will make no difference.

This answer if there is one lies in education, teaching kids the dangers of drugs, one way is  showing  hard hitting anti drug films in schools, there is a company the Government use for their no drinking no smoking campaigns that turn out the most brilliantly terrifying adverts against drink driving and smoking.

Showing the effects on the mind from using these so called legal highs will shock many into not going near them, the after effects can be pretty terrifying, like the footage I saw yesterday of a  14 year old boy going through various stages of terror and paranoia, followed by aggression  shown on sky news, if I had any intention of trying this drug, and I don’t,this would have been enough to deter me.

So forget about gimmicks Gordon we know there is an election coming up, you are not fooling anybody, lets get educating our youngsters to the dangers now.

Jedward

Who would have thought it, Sony have cancelled their contract with Jedward after just one album, I find this astonishing the twins John and Edward cant sing cant dance, and they look bloody ridiculous with their bouffant style quiffs, you would have thought they were nailed on to be a success, (refer to Spice girls and  Sugababes).

More pertinently, why were they given a contract in the first place. I have just seen their collaboration with Vanilla ice, and cringed so much I actually aged a couple of years whilst watching it.

The British public usually so discerning completely lose the plot with these so called talents shows, it only takes a Simon or Louis to declare that “they are brilliant” and people lap it up, like sheep they blindly follow, what happened to making your own mind up.

Perhaps I could be a judge on the next show I spotted they were crap immediately.

A Rainy Night in Georgia

A spoof television report that President Mikheil Saakashvili had been assassinated in a new Russian invasion of Georgia led to mass panic and furious opposition protests yesterday.

The 30-minute programme claimed that Russian forces were advancing on the capital Tbilisi and had bombed its airport, and that opposition leaders had sided with the Kremlin.

Thousands panicked and a mass exodus began before it was announced that is was not real.

Why did the Georgians just not look out of their windows and check?

David Beckham Achilles Injury

As sad as it is on a personal level for David Beckham to be missing a World cup because of his torn Achilles, and he really does have my sympathy the outpouring of doom and gloom his absence will have on our chances is getting to ridiculous proportions.

Had Beckham been picked for the final 23, he would have at best played a cameo part, limited to 15/20 minutes here and there like he is used by his current club, if he is unable to hold down 90 minutes at club level he would not be able to either pitted against the best players in the World.

This has now released Fabio Capello from pressure to include Beckham, his inclusion would have been  from a commercial point of view no doubt nudged by the FA, I am fed up hearing the expression “ambassador” regarding Beckham and England, once the finals start it doesn’t matter what brand Beckham is doing, it’s all about ability on the pitch, and sadly Beckham does not cut the mustard at that level anymore,  I would concede in a dead ball situation Beckham is still amongst the best in the world but the modern game does not allow for the luxury of having a player on the pitch just for free kicks and corners.

So thank you David for your contributions to England, and by the way they haven’t all been positive contributions, lets not forget sent of in 1998 against Argentina, gave the fans the finger in 2000 against Italy, missed a penalty against Portugal in 2004.

But I forgive him him all those for that wonderful free kick against Greece in 2001 to get England to the World cup finals in 2002.

So no more talk about Beckham and the World cup now, lets concentrate on the players that are going.

Pope Benedict XVI

The Pope was drawn directly into the Roman Catholic sex abuse scandal last night as news emerged of his part in a decision to send a paedophile priest for therapy. The cleric went on to reoffend and was convicted of child abuse but continues to work as a priest in Upper Bavaria.

Unbelievable as that may sound it’s true, this will have a catastrophic impact on Catholics around the World, I would hope that the Pope will immediately step down, the spiritual leader of the World’s 1.3 billion Catholic’s, Gods representative if you will, cannot and must not be allowed to remain in his position.

The accused priest was sent from Essen to Munich for therapy in 1980 when he was accused of forcing an 11-year-old boy to perform oral sex. The archdiocese confirmed that the Pope, who was then a cardinal, had approved a decision to accommodate the priest in a rectory while the therapy took place.

I know we are taught by the Bible to be forgiving and to offer a second chance, but this is ridiculous.

A number of years ago in this Country a judge gave a serial child abuser yet another chance, after he appeared before him for the fourth time, some observers called for the judge to be investigated because of his over lenient stance on child abuse, the Judge was free to continue, but a couple of years along the road he was forced to resign when children’s images were found on his computer, not outright porn but not his children and disturbing enough to cause him to resign. I wont name this Judge because there was no conviction.

The Pope must step down.

Jon Venable’s

Jack Straw, the Justice Secretary, was under pressure last night to lift the veil of secrecy over the decision to return one of James Bulger’s killers to custody for breaking the terms of his parole.

He claims that its in the public interest, no it isn’t Venables was released because he was supposed to have been rehabilitated, the Government’s parole system failed, so we have aright to know what has happened.

I understand that Venables has been returned to jail for violence and drugs offences, its believed he is addicted to cocaine and has an explosive temper, there have already been a couple of incidents prior to this latest breach of licence, this one deemed serious enough to return him to jail.

He had previously been in a fight after he saw a man talking to his girlfriend, and on another occasion needed emergency treatment after yet another fight in the street, on that occasion he went to a hospital on Merseyside, though that was a breach of his licence to, Venables is not allowed to enter Merseyside.

Jack Straw made it clear yesterday that the reason for his recall will never be divulged with a heavy emphasis on never, however I believe public interest and concern is so great that the story will eventually come out , already snippets are appearing on the internet.

James Bulgers killers may have only been 10 years old when they committed their awful crime, and according to the law not responsible for their actions, but any human being that can inflict the kind of torture on a 2 year old boy and then kill him like they did should never be freed, like the animals that they are they should remain in cages.

John Terry Booed

The big question in football for the last couple of days on radio phone in shows has been whether or not John Terry will be booed at Wembley tonight by the England fans.

I believe the answer is yes he will be absolutely slaughtered by the majority of fans, and deservedly so, before people star saying it will be damaging England’s chances by booing him, I say he himself has already damaged our chances by his behaviour, first by sleeping with his teammates ex Vanessa Perroncel, and then by refusing to apologise.

there are those out there that say this is a personal matter and not a football one and the two should be kept separate, to those I say Rubbish, Terry has brought the position of England captain into disrepute, he has disrespected the role, and cheapened the armband.

It is said that there are up to 5 senior squad players that are against Terry even being in the squad, this can only have a negative effect. Craig Bellamy summed it up brilliantly on a sky TV interview after Man City humbled Chhelse4-2 at Stamford Bridge at the weekend, he said “I have no time for him I know what he is like, everybody in football knows what Terry is like of the field”

Wayne Bridge is totally blameless in this affair, yet he is missing the chance to go to the World Cup because of Terry’s actions, I believe Bridge will regret his decision, and I hope he will change his mind, better still somebody breaks Terry’s leg and puts this whole matter to bed.

How desperate was Terry for sex that he could not turn Vanessa down, we are told all the time how footballers have women throwing themselves at them all the time, Terry’s wife should shoulder some of the blame for her husbands behaviour she obviously has no self respect and by continually forgiving him for his cheating ( at least 10 reported times) she has given him the green light to do as he pleases.

So I hope he is booed loudly and consistently tonight,  it wont affect the result, we should comfortably see of Egypt, in what is only a friendly but maybe Terry might get the message and do the decent thing and pull himself out of the squad for South Africa, but the words decent and Terry don’t mix well.

Arsene Wenger - Disgrace

I hope the FA are going to take action against the Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger for the disgraceful comments he made on Saturday, after that awful injury to Aaron Ramsey in their away fixture to Stoke City.

It was clearly an accident a badly timed challenge by Ryan Shawcross that was clumsy at worst, I have watched the incident many times and can see no intent, in fact though not conclusive it also appears that Ramsey was going down on that ankle already when the tackle came in.

We all feel terrible for the young lad Aaron Ramsey, who sustained a broken leg, the injury is likely to keep him out of football for at least  year, and even then there are no guarantees that he will play again.

Wenger’s comments that Players deliberately go out to injure his players because they are so skilful are outrageous and without foundation, he claimed that after three such injury’s to his players in 5 years it proves his case.

Rubbish that is just a sad coincidence, if managers were sending their teams out to injure Arsenal players, considering they play about 70 games a season that would be about 350 games, their would be more than 3 serious injury’s.

Wenger’s comments are becoming all to predictable , he does love to play the victim, its always”everybody is out to get us” maybe he should concentrate on winning something, (they are 5 years without winning anything) and spend less time dreaming up conspiracy theory’s.

in the meantime I wish Aaron Ramsey a full and speedy recovery.

Mahmoud al-Mabhouh

The Hamas arms dealer murdered in Dubai was drugged with a strong sedative then suffocated while paralysed but still conscious, police have revealed.

Mahmoud al-Mabhouh was injected with the fast-acting muscle relaxant succinylcholine, according to a toxicology report released yesterday. He was then suffocated with a pillow in his hotel room in the January 19 hit by suspected Israeli agents.

This has been reported as though the Israeli’s have done something bad, unless I am missing something they have rid the world of a terrorist. good riddance end of story, lets move on.

There will be endless inquests, endless reports and revelations, bottom line is though another fanatic who dreamed of paradise has been helped on his way there.

Israel should be applauded.

Pakistan Taliban

Significant leaders of the Pakistani Taleban have been killed or captured in an onslaught of frontier ground and air attacks, a Pakistani general has told the media.

“The militant command and control centres and their caches have been dismantled or captured,” said Major-General Tariq Khan. He goes as far as to say the Pakistan Taliban no longer exist as a cohesive military force.

Big words from the General and if they are accurate, it has a been a brilliant campaign from the Pakistan military, with 790 Taliban killed since November and hundreds more captured.

The claims come at a time of improved military co-operation between America and Pakistan, in which US drones have killed a number of key Pakistani Taleban commanders, and Pakistani security agents have arrested at least four senior Afghan Taleban leaders over the past month.

Some positive news from that part of the World at last, now if that success can be replicated in Afghanistan, that really would be a reason to be optimistic, our troops may soon be on the way home.
