It was sad to hear that Stephen Gately had died at the weekend it’s sad when anyone of that age dies suddenly, I wont pretend to be broken up for him, after all how sorry can you be for someone you don’t know dying,
It always amazes me though how members of the public or “fans” go so over the top in their platitudes after the death of a celebrity, I have already seen tributes like “shining star” and “immense Talent” bandied about, lets not get carried away here he was a average singer in a phenomenally successful but manufactured boy band Boyzone, who broke up years ago.
The police have said there are no suspicious circumstances to his death so I will assume that because he had been out clubbing all night it will be a drug induced or a vomit induced death, by vomit induced I mean being so drunk that you cough up vomit which retreats back into your throat and chokes you because you are unconscious from the amount of alcohol consumed. if it turns out to be the latter than he will be for gotten in a couple of days if it turns out to be something more sinister expect the papers to milk it for a few days longer.
Incidentally the reason I even commented on his death is because my daughter had a huge crush on him in his boy band days and was devastated to find out he was gay ( what a shocker) and I spent a lot of time teasing her about it and taking the mickey out of him, she will be upset even now so on her behalf RIP Stephen.
