ITV and Sky are apparently locked in a battle for the services of Harry Hill who presents TV burps, this is a programme which shows clips from programmes already aired and Harry adds “hilarious” one liners to the footage.
I understand it costs £200,ooo per episode at the moment, out of that Hill takes £40,000 as wages, Sky are said to be offering four hundred thousand an episode doubling Hill’s wages. A couple of things here how can a show which is rehashing clips from previously aired showed cost anywhere near that amount to produce.
Once you have paid Hills wages and perhaps splashed out on a pen and some paper for him to write his “hilarious” one liners that is your budget, where is the other £159,998 going.
And secondly and most importantly the show is crap, I have watched it a few times and cannot see how it is so popular, granted I may have the odd chuckle but on the whole it is rubbish, last week 7 million people watched it so maybe I am missing something and the show is brilliant, but if it moves to Sky half his viewers would be lost as not so many people have Sky, so why the increase in budget for less viewers. why not just give him a pay increase for the move and leave the cost of the show the same.
No wonder this Country is going down the toilet with this kind of business acumen, it also explains why our TV personalities act like they live on a different planet, its because they do.
